19.12.2025 - Improved data accuracy in AutoScan with Smartscan VERIFIED

We have enhanced AutoScan, our AI-powered invoice scanning service with support for Smartscan’s new VERIFIED feature, a new layer of automated checks that make scanned invoice data far more accurate and reliable. With Smartscan’s own word: “VERIFIED: When AI double-checks itself. 

What is VERIFIED?

VERIFIED automatically cross validates key invoice fields to ensure they are mathematically consistent with each other. This means fewer errors, fewer manual corrections, and smoother automated processing.

The feature checks relationships such as:

  • Header totals vs. line totals
  • VAT amounts vs. base amounts and VAT percentages
  • Line-level totals vs. VAT amounts

If everything matches, the data is marked as verified. If discrepancies are found, Smartscan can even auto-correct some values.

VERIFIED Performance Metrics by Smartscan*:

  • Up to 90% of total amounts can be verified
  • Over 80% of VAT totals are validated
  • For invoices with purchase lines, 84% can be fully reconstructed consistently

What is AutoScan?

AutoScan is a fully automated solution for receiving PDF invoices. Leveraging machine learning technology (Smartscan), it extracts invoice data without requiring manual verification or quality control. Compared to our traditional scan networks, AutoScan is particularly suitable for customers who value fast delivery, place less emphasis on data verification and are seeking a cost-effective scanning option. With the addition of the VERIFIED feature, the accuracy of the extracted data has significantly improved, now approaching or being the same quality as of our Scan Network solution.
AutoScan is currently available in our main markets, including Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and the Netherlands. It is not yet automatically available in Finland, but Finnish companies interested in this feature can contact Maventa support to have the solution enabled.
