Two step authentication
For logging into Maventa, an authenticator app that supports two-factor authentication and generates a 6-digit code is suitable (such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Visma Authenticator).
An authenticator is an app that creates one-time codes for two-factor authentication. It is linked to Maventa by scanning a QR code or entering the code manually, providing you with a 6-digit login code. The authenticator can be downloaded to your phone or computer.
Most authenticator apps supporting two-factor authentication are free.
First login
When logging into Maventa for the first time, you will be guided through the authenticator setup step by step. Login is achieved by entering login credentials and the 6-digit code copied from the authenticator app under "Visma Connect".
Recommended free authenticators
Phone: Google authenticator:
Computer: OTP Manager:
Browser extension for computer:
If the authenticator installation on your phone or computer fails, try another authenticator or install it as a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.
Authenticator setup
-
Log into Maventa
Enter your email and password when logging into Maventa. If your password does not meet security requirements, change it to a new one and press "Change Password".
-
Activate two-factor authentication
Logging in requires adding a QR code to your authenticator app for future Maventa access.
-
Select authenticator app
Download the app to your phone or computer. Open the authenticator app and add a new item by scanning the QR code or entering the key manually. The app displays a six-digit code used for logging in.
-
Enter the number series from the authenticator app into Maventa
Enter the 6-digit code from the Visma Connect section of your authenticator app into Maventa.
- Error Message: "Invalid code. Please try again."
Check that you entered the number series correctly without extra characters or spaces. Return to the previous step and scan the QR code in the authenticator app again or enter the key manually.
- Error Message: "Invalid code. Please try again."
-
Enable SMS as an alternative two-factor authentication method
Enter the phone number to which the login code will be sent. You can then use text message instead of the authenticator.
-
Save the one-time emergency code
Keep the one-time emergency code safe. This is important if your phone is damaged or lost. Without the authenticator app or emergency code, you will not be able to log into Maventa.
Google authenticator setup on phone
Scan QR code
-
Add code by scanning:
Open the Authenticator app and click the + symbol. Choose "Scan a QR code". Scan the code. A new 6-digit code named Visma Connect will appear on the screen. Use this code to log into Maventa.
-
Add code manually:
Open the Authenticator app and click the + symbol. Choose "Enter a setup key". Enter the desired name in the Account field and the code provided during Maventa login in the Key field. Click "Add". A new 6-digit code, named Visma Connect, will appear on the screen. Use this code to log into Maventa.
Transfer authenticator to a new phone
- Old phone: Tap the three dots in the upper right and select "Export accounts" to create a QR code.
- New phone: Tap the three dots in the upper right and select "Import accounts" to read the QR code. The authenticator accounts previously created will transfer to the new phone's authenticator app.
OTP Manager setup on computer
OTP Manager can be used on the computer for two-factor authentication instead of phone-based authenticator apps. In OTP Manager, you need to add a new 6-digit code, known as a Token, linking the OTP Manager app and Maventa login.
-
Download OTP Manager on Your Computer:
-
Open OTP Manager and add Token:
Press + and enter the required information:
- Issuer (e.g., Maventa)
- Username (e.g., Firstname Lastname)
- Secret: Provide the manual key given during the first login to Maventa.
Press "Add Token", after which a new 6-digit code will appear in OTP Manager.
-
Log into Maventa by entering the code in "Enter the security code generated by the authenticator app". The code updates every 30 seconds.
6-digit code not working
Check QR code scanning:
- Ensure the QR code is scanned or entered correctly from the “Visma Connect” section and that you're not inputting a code intended for another service.
Enter the code without spaces or extra characters:
- Enter the 6-digit code accurately without spaces or additional characters.
- Expired codes turn red, wait for the app to generate a new one.
Synchronize Google Authenticator's time:
- Open Google Authenticator, go to "Settings" -> "Time correction for codes" -> "Sync now". This synchronizes the app's time without changing your device's clock time.
Reinstall the app:
- Uninstall and reinstall the app on your phone and scan or enter the code manually.
Begin using 2FA and instructions: "Download the Visma Authenticator app to enable push notifications as your primary 2FA option":
